Well the title says it all. I’ve been swimming since I was young, going for lessons at the local Chinese Swimming Club. Believe it or not, the guy who taught me swimming decades ago, Mr. Lim, is still there. He’s a veteran, that’s for sure.
It’s funny, but I’ve never managed to master the freestyle stroke, or crawl. I swim using the breast stroke (some of my friends say I’m a breast stroker
) but I was pleased to read on the Web that the breast stroke burns about the same amount of calories as the crawl. I also like the feel of water around my skin, and I can actually meditate (or empty out my thoughts) while in the pool. The absence of people in the pool when I swim is an added bonus.
I try to swim on most weekdays, and wasn’t very surprised to learn that my weight and BMI were near-ideal during my recent med check. My doc was very pleased and encouraged me to keep up the swimming regimen. I’ll do that, Sir!
