I was a fan of Spybot-Search and Destroy back in the good old days of Windows 98 and 2000. This was a free antispyware program and was very easy to set up and use. Then its definitions database became larger and larger (due to newer threats) and its scanning speed became progressively slower and slower. I recall when the scans would take something like 45 minutes to complete on my system; an eternity for a computer geek.
Recently the 1.6 Beta came out, with news of improved scanning speeds. I had to give Spybot the benefit of the doubt, so I downloaded and installed it. And now, by golly, the scanning is fast. It took only 5 minutes to scan through my whole C: drive, with the latest definitions. Incredible! Magnifico! Wunderbar!
Here’s a tip: turn off the Teatimer feature, which doesn’t seem to help or catch anything at all. Also note that this is Beta software, so there’s a chance that it could upset your system (but it didn’t do that to mine). The interface is still the same old Spybot thingy, but what really matters to me is that the scanning speed has improved by leaps and bounds. Heartily recommended, if you’re looking for a free antispyware program.
Just a side note here. If you install Spybot after Ad-Aware is on your system you may get a little warning about something or other when you launch Spybot. I’ve safely ignored it and had no conflicts - as long as they are not running at the same time (which 2 spyware programs should never be) there should be no issues.

Now i know why you cannot comment on my blogspot. I set it to not allow anon comments. Keeps getting spammed. Anyway, thanks for reading my blogs. I hardly have time to sit at the pc these days. On a new make money online venture and need to learn new things. I use the N82 and O2 to check on my blogs lately cos i hate to login and logout of so many blogs on the same platform. Three pcs running also not enough, sien. Haih, long story also. Until things settle and auto-runs. Then got more time to myself. Cant help it. USD is going up. It’s time to print more now.
